The story of 'Lost In The Stars' is based on the Chinese adaption of a 1990 Russian film 'A Trap for the lonely Man' (aka. Ловушка для одинокого мужчины) and a real crime case involved a Chinese couple traveling in Thailand.

A man He Fei (starring by ZHU Yilong) was trying to implore the local police to open a case after realizing his wife's missing during their trip overseas for their wedding anniversary. But mysteriously, the wife Li Muzi (starring by Janice Man) reappeared at the moment and convinced that his husband has been suffering from neurological problems so that having hallucinations about the missing. Both sides disputed the truth, until the husband tried to get help from a lawyer (starring by NI Ni).

As a suspenseful crime film debut on the first day of the Chinese Dragon Boat Festival Holidays, 'Lost In The Stars' far exceeded all expectations with the outstanding box office results. In just first three days, the film has earned over RMB 500 million yuan (approx. 70 million dollars) at the box office in Chinese Mainland, and topped the global weekly box office chart for two consecutive weeks since its release.

This is the second summer for the main actor ZHU Yilong with a disparate character and film work to revive the market of Chinese mainland, followed 'Lighting Up the Stars' with the RMB 1.7 billion yuan (approx. 240 million dollars) at box office which sparked the last summer season.

After the theatrical release, the film was headed to all the popular Chinese video streaming platforms carring with a gross of over 3.5 billon yuan at the box office.
